Please read before maiking your reservation:
The Wolf River is almost entirely a Class I river, with the exception of a few fast-moving portions. The Ghost Section is Class I.
However, this does not mean that the Ghost Section is open to beginners without the accompaniment of an experienced paddler. The Ghost Section meanders nearly 8 miles with many sharp turns, obstacles (mostly fallen trees), and a maze canoe trail through a cypress-tupelo swamp bottom. It is highly recommended to have (or be accompanied by someone who has) intermediate to advanced experience paddling rivers before taking on the Ghost Section.
We do not want to scare you away - we just want to give a fair warning. It's not easy to judge one's fitness, experience, and/or comfortability level. If you have any concerns/doubts, please consider hiring one of our guides. The expedition through the Ghost Section is a unique and pleasurable experience for most of our renters.
Do not attempt if impaired by illness, drugs/alcohol, injury or if not in sufficient physical condition.
Maiking a reservation:
1. Choose a date and time for your expedition. We are open every weeked and will gladly open on weekdays if you plan to rent 5 or more boats and/or are interested in our guide service. Find out how many people will be joining you and most importantly: how many boats and what type (canoe, kayak, SUP) you will need so we can accommodate your group. Please remember that we offer a guide service. This option is available and reccommended for those who feel that they may need help and/or wish to learn more about the history and ecology of the river.
2. Call 901-485-1220 when you are absolutely certain of the date, time, number of people, how many boats/what type for your trip, and if you'll be using the guide service. If we are not able to answer, please leave a voicemail.
3. After making your reservation, please refer the directions on the Price Info page of our website to get to the "Bateman Bridge" at the time and date of your trip. We ask that you be here earlier than your scheduled time so everyone is able to make necessary preparations and load into the van. If you are late, we may have to leave without you because we will likely be providing the same service to renters who are on time. We really appreciate your punctuality.
4. If you or someone in your group has to cancel, please give us as much notice as possible. We prepare the trailor at least a day ahead of time for reservations - often a week ahead of time. Please give us at least 48 hrs. notice if you have a cancellation.
5. IMPORTANT: Listed below is a link to the Canoe Rental /Release of Liability Form. It is required that all of our renters complete and sign this form before they are allowed access on the Wolf River. Please print and complete this form and bring it on the day of your trip. If under 18, the responsible adult must list the name of this individual on his/her release form.
